RHYTHM / SPACE

Rhythm / Space is a structural project designed to carry a large body of water overhead and contain a traversible gallery space below with the implicit goal of attaining a satisfactory strength to weight ratio. Taking inspiration from a variety of extant structures, Rhythm / Space primarily draws its relevant structural methodology from the idea of tetrahedral tensegrity.

Repetition of a basic module composed of tension members (cable) and compression members (wood beam) provide the load bearing structure. The overall shape of the project is dictated by the constraints of the volume given by the client: a rectangular volume with a single angled face.
